Former State House spokesperson Kanze Dena has taken to Instagram to quell rumours of her alleged suffering from throat cancer.
On Tuesday 9th April 2024, a viral story started making rounds on social media that she was battling throat cancer; a convenient reason for her prolonged absence from the public eye.
To put the record straight, the former Citizen Tv news anchor took to her social media handle to say she was well and that she does not intent to ‘leave life anytime soon’.
“Life na good oh!. Not EXITING this race called LIFE anytime soon. Fixing my eye on Jesus the Author and finisher of my life. “I stand and declare God’s word that He shall honour me and Satisfy me with long life. No evil shall befall me, neither shall any plague come near my dwelling. I shall live to declare the works of the Lord in the land of the leaving,” she wrote on her Instagram page.
Kanze Dena 2021 Body Shaming
In 2021, Kanze Dena, then a State House Spokesperson, was body-shamed by netizens for her incredible weight gain during her press duties at the Sagana State Louge.
Netizens were quick to post alluding messages of her supposed suffering after a long absence from the public eye.
In her reassuring message to concerned netizens, she added, “GOD I thank you for your word for it shall not go out and return void. I am confident of this Every tongue that raises itself against me in judgement is condemned. This is my heritage.”
Kenya’s social media users have gained widespread notoriety for their insensitive handling of critical issues bordering on privacy, national security and human interest. It is not the first time a celebrity of Kanze Dena’s standing has come under unwarranted scrutiny for their absence from the social eye of Kenyans. Early this year, Citizen TV’s Swaleh Mdoe’s absence from his usual appearance during prime news prompted some to allege that he had been demoted by the media giant over an unexplained absence from his scheduled news bulletin. Neither Swale nor Citizen TV have released a statement concerning the rumour. It remains to be seen what comes of it.
