The Czech Republic’s Krystyna Pyszková has been crowned Miss World after a ceremony that featured more than 111 contestants from across the globe in India.
This year’s pageant was held in Mumbai, India. The event largely met the expectations of many, having conjured up some memorable moments and left a lasting impression on followers and loyalists across the globe.
Lebanon’s Yasmina Zaytoun was the first runner-up
At the start of the pageant, contestants were tested on fitness, beauty, talent and public speaking before 40 of them were selected for the main event and ultimate ranking.
Krystyna Pyszková expressed her satisfaction at being crowned Miss World after a long journey to the top
“Being crowned Miss World is a dream come true. I am deeply honoured to represent my country and the values of ‘beauty with a purpose’ on a global platform,” Krystyna Pyszkova said.
Also attending the pageant was former winner Karoline Bielawska of Poland. Bielawska officially handed over the mantle to Krystyna Pyszková at the Jio World Convention Center.
Krystyna Pyszkova On The Final List Of Contestants
The final list was tiered down through elimination from 40 to 12 and then to 8 contestants. The final 8 contestants participated in a classic Q&A round, addressing topics discussed at the most recent G 20 Summit. Pyszková, a 23-year-old law student spoke vividly about fighting the stigma and shame surrounding menstruation.
All four final contestants came from 4 continents; Europe, The Americas, Europe and the Caribbean. There were a total of 3 runners-up – Yasmina Zeytoun of Lebanon (Asia), Aché Abrahams of Trinidad and Tobago (Caribbean) and Lesego Chombo of Botswana (Africa)
Former winner Priyanka Chopra (2000) appeared in a video paying tribute to Miss World owner Julia Morley.
The event was a platform to showcase India’s culture, traditions, heritage, arts and crafts, and textiles. This was the first time the pageant event had been held in India in 28 years. Some notable winners from India are Reita Faria (1966), Aishwarya Rai (1994), Diana Hayden (1997), Yukta Mookhey (1999), Priyanka Chopra (2000) and Manushi Chillar (2017).
