Mabati Rolling Mills Limited (MRM) hosted its Fundi Connect event last week in Nairobi, bringing together local artisans (fundis) to recognise, reward and engage them for their contribution to the construction industry and their role in installing MRM’s roofing solutions.

The event highlighted MRM’s commitment to building lasting relationships with fundis, whose craftsmanship and technical expertise are essential to delivering quality roofing installations. Beyond recognising their efforts, Fundi Connect provides a platform to strengthen partnerships, deepen product knowledge and celebrate the artisans who bring MRM’s building solutions to life.

Speaking at the event, Rittah Okello, Relationship Marketing Manager at MRM, emphasised the importance of recognising fundis as key contributors to construction projects across Kenya and beyond.

“Today marks our first-ever Fundi Connect event, an opportunity to celebrate the artisans who bring MRM’s products to life through their workmanship. Beyond supplying building materials, we want to recognise fundis as the unsung heroes behind the homes, malls and other construction projects across Kenya and beyond our borders,” she said.

Also present was Geoff Antony, Head of Sales and Retail at MRM, alongside other members of the company’s leadership and marketing team. The event included awards recognising fundis for their continued support and contribution to promoting and installing MRM products.

Among the award recipients was Mark Murimi, who expressed his appreciation for the recognition and highlighted his experience using MRM products.

“Today is a special day, and I sincerely appreciate MRM for organising this event to recognise and reward fundis and contractors who promote its products to customers. I have been using MRM Versatile on my projects, and I am grateful that my work and continued support have been recognised. Receiving this 55-inch television is truly rewarding, and I thank MRM for appreciating the contribution we make as fundis,” he said.

MRM also continues to invest in fundis’ professional development through its Installer Training Programme, which equips artisans with practical skills and confidence to improve workmanship, apply their knowledge on-site and help customers avoid unnecessary installation errors and costs. The programme aims to strengthen their technical expertise, enhance professional credibility, improve livelihood opportunities and position certified installers as trusted MRM brand ambassadors.

Through Fundi Connect and its installer training initiatives, MRM continues to empower local artisans, promote proper roofing installation and strengthen customer confidence in the quality and durability of its building solutions.
