Gilbey's Gin has partnered with Punchline Comedy Club to deliver comedy nights

Gilbey’s Gin, in partnership with Punchline Comedy Club, has kicked off a series of comedy nights aimed at celebrating connections and joy with family and friends. The weekly comedy nights kicked off at The Two Grapes Bar & Restaurant on 17th January and will see Punchline Comics treat guests to an evening of fun and laughter and set the mood as the year kicks off.

Consumers who attended the event had the opportunity to purchase specialized Gilbeys Gin cocktails paired with the food menu. They were also treated to Gilbey’s Gin bottles at special prizes, a gift of joy to take home after a full night of laughter. These promotions will run for every comedy night for the duration of the campaign.

The comedy nights and activations lined up by Gilbey’s and Punchline include a weekly Wednesday comedy show at Two Grapes dubbed ‘Winedown Wednesday’, a weekly Thursday comedy show dubbed ‘One Mic Stand’ and a Friday activation at the Cavalli Restaurant and Bar. There will be a final ticketed comedy special dubbed ‘Yo Mama’ on February 10th at the Mama Rocks Restaurant, Karen. The comedy nights promise to deliver a month of fun-filled laughter and offer consumers a refreshing and authentic experience with friends.

“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Punchline Comedy to bring laughter and joy to the vibrant city of Nairobi. This collaboration is not just about comedy; it’s about creating unforgettable experiences that blend humor with the smooth taste of Gilbeys Gin. We believe laughter is a universal language, and together with our partners, we aim to elevate the entertainment scene in Nairobi. This partnership is a toast to laughter, joy, and the spirit of celebration, and we can’t wait to see the shared moments our comedy nights will bring. Cheers to a partnership that promises to be as smooth and enjoyable as a sip of Gilbeys Gin.” Said Zipporah Ndung’u, Gilbeys Brand Manager, EABL.

Over the last 5 years, Punchline Comedy Club has provided a platform for local comedic talent to grow and has built a loyal fan base through their open mic nights and digital content. The platform now reaches across East and Central Africa and has created a stream of international and local comedic talent performing consistently.

“More than anything it is my conviction that standup comedy is the final frontier in the entertainment industry in Kenya & Africa as a whole. This is the next big thing. The talent is here, we have established and continue to grow a market but most importantly, there remains immeasurable potential with what we can do. This partnership with Gilbeys Gin will take the Punchline Platform further to achieving its goal of making Nairobi the stand-up capital of Africa.” Said Eric Lu Sava, Founder of Punchline Comedy Club

Over the years, Gilbeys has continued to invest in talent programs around the country in line with its commitment to nurture and develop the creative industry through creating unapologetically premium experiences that inspire good times for all.

Punchline Comedy Club: Comedy In Society Today

The ability to perceive and produce humor, highly valued across human societies, has been the subject of much philosophical interest but little sustained empirical study. In Kenya, there are multiple theoretical perspectives and dedicated research relevant to the study of humor, including its nature, its origins in ontogeny and phylogeny, its behavioral manifestation in laughter, its psychological and evolutionary significance, and its hypothesized neural mediation.

Although responding with humor may appear to be a way of evading a serious problem, it might also turn out to be a rather effective way of counteracting the seriousness, or even danger, in a situation by deflecting its adverse effects and by offering an alternative to despair.

Kenya continues to be one of the best grounds for comedy clubs.
