The enhancement marks another significant milestone in the evolution of Absa Next, which was launched in September 2026 to simplify the way customers bank, save, borrow, and transact. With the introduction of investments, Absa Next further strengthens its position as a fully integrated digital bank, enabling customers to manage their financial lives end-to-end without visiting a branch.

Speaking on the new investment feature, Moses Muthui, Director, Personal and Private Banking at Absa Bank Kenya PLC, said:

“At the heart of every investment is a dream, whether it’s securing a family’s future, funding education, growing a business, preparing for retirement, or building long-term financial security. We understand that our customers are looking for simple, accessible ways to turn those aspirations into reality”.

“When we launched Absa Next, we committed to continuously evolving the platform to meet our customers’ needs and expectations. Today’s launch is another important step in building a digital bank that enables customers to manage every aspect of their financial lives in one place. With investments starting from as little as KES 1,000, we are making wealth creation more accessible and inclusive. We remain excited about the opportunities ahead and will continue introducing innovative solutions that empower customers to achieve their financial goals”, he added.

Absa Next Provides Convenience And Inclusivity In Wealth Creation

The introduction of investments on Absa Next reflects Absa Bank’s commitment to making wealth creation more accessible, convenient, and inclusive. Customers can now start, manage, and grow their investment journeys directly from their phones while accessing the convenience of a fully integrated digital banking experience.

Through the platform, customers can open investment accounts digitally, link existing Absa Unit Trust investments, create multiple investment portfolios aligned to different goals, top up investments conveniently, access account statements, and monitor portfolio performance in real time. The solution also offers qualifying real-time redemptions to an Absa Wallet from the Absa Shilling Money Market Fund.

Since its launch in September 2026, Absa Next has attracted more than 300,000 users, with customers actively using Absa Next for everyday financial activities including bill payments, bill splitting, digital savings, and instant day-one credit. Open to both Absa and non-Absa customers, the platform was built through extensive customer engagement and continues to evolve based on customer feedback. The introduction of investment capabilities marks the next phase of that journey, empowering customers to grow their wealth and take greater control of their financial futures through one seamless digital platform.

Kenya’s digital banking and digital financial services continue expanding impressively year-on-year. This has been helped by Kenya’s growing population and growth in base income levels from households across the country. The growth in income for some families across multiple levels of society has necessitated the need for investment platforms. With banks and financial institutions providing safe investment options, many families and households are now turning to banks for their investment journeys.
