Guinness Brand Manager Joy Murugi the Premier League trophy tour offers fans a rare opportunity to connect with football beyond the television screen, as the brand seeks to deepen its engagement with supporters through live matchday experiences.
Thousands of Kenyan football fans were treated to the epic Guinness Matchday experience on Friday, October 16th in Kisumu at Dondez and Berlin Lounge, and Sunday, October 17th in Nairobi. The highlight for many was the rare opportunity to interact with and take photos alongside the Premier League Trophy, a symbol of footballing excellence and dreams.
The matchday venues were transformed into football havens, featuring multiple big screens and crisp audio that ensured fans caught every action and moment in high definition, all within a truly football-charged atmosphere.
“We are thrilled to bring the Premier League trophy back to Kenya, offering even more fans the opportunity to get extra close to football’s ultimate prize,” said Murugi.
The trophy tour, held through the Guinness Matchday platform, brought thousands of football enthusiasts together in Nairobi and Kisumu over the weekend, combining live Premier League screenings, music and opportunities to take photographs with one of football’s most coveted prizes.
The Premier League trophy tour offers a way to translate its partnership with the Premier League into tangible experiences for Kenyan fans, many of whom follow the competition passionately but rarely get the opportunity to interact with its symbols and personalities in person.
“As the Official Beer of the Premier League, our partnership allows us to create these once-in-a-lifetime experiences for our consumers through Guinness Matchday,” Murugi said.
Unforgettable Premier League Trophy Tour For Fans In Kisumu and Nairobi
The events were held at Dondez and Berlin Lounge in Kisumu on Friday, followed by a Nairobi experience on Sunday. Fans watched live matches on large screens while supporters of Arsenal, Manchester United and Manchester City gathered to celebrate their shared passion for the game.
The opportunity to see and photograph the Premier League trophy provided a central attraction, turning ordinary match screenings into a more immersive football experience.
This approach reflects the importance of community in football fandom. Supporters do not simply follow results; they build identities around their clubs, share matchday rituals and connect with others who understand their passion. Bringing fans together in shared spaces allows brands to engage with these communities in ways that conventional advertising may not achieve.
Guinness Matchday also featured performances by Kenyan artistes Khaligraph Jones and Wyre, alongside DJs Joe Mfalme and Mista C. The entertainment programme extended the experience beyond the final whistle, combining football with music and social interaction.
The blend of sport and entertainment is central to the trophy tour’s appeal, offering fans multiple reasons to attend while strengthening the connection between the Premier League and Kenya’s wider entertainment culture.
Murugi said the trophy tour was intended to set the tone for the season, with Guinness promising more Matchday experiences throughout the Premier League campaign.
“This trophy tour sets the tone for an exciting season ahead, and we look forward to bringing Kenyan fans even more exciting Guinness Matchday experiences throughout the rest of the Premier League season,” she said.
By bringing the trophy to local venues and creating opportunities for fans to gather, Guinness is turning its Premier League partnership into a more immediate and accessible experience.
The Premier League trophy tour is reinforcing the role of shared experiences in building lasting connections between football, fans and brands across the world.
